Final video trailer
This is my final film trailer, there was however a detailed storyboard to match, although due to complications within the group I could not get this on to my blog. The feedback I received from this video was overall positive. However, one constructive piece of criticism I received is that there is no website at the end of my trailer, although this was already pointed, however due to group complications and timing this was not possible.
Final poster and magazine.
Here is my final magazine cover. I have used all the conventions of existing media, after feedback from my core audience after I had finished this magazine was very positive. I had constructive criticism on some of the fonts and colour from a small amount of individuals, however from many individuals the colour and font was successful. I was told I had used the conventions of media and the design and layout was successful, however a couple of people said they would have preferred to see a larger image, although attempting to do this in photoshop did not come so easy as the image can only be stretched to a certain size without the arms going off the page of the magazine, stretching the image upwards also proved difficult as it did not look realistic and just made him look stretched. The most positive feedback I recieved was based on the layout and design, the colour scheme worked well with the genre of my film and the layout is easy to read and bold and eyecatching.
This is my final poster, the feedback I received from my target audience was also very positive. The most praised comments were on the layout and colour of my poster, the simplicity in colours and text was commented on. The conventions were also commented on as being correct, for example comments on the small print were successful, although some did not like the small print as they thought it made the poster look messy and 'annoying', although I chose to keep it in as it is a convention of film posters and when read holds alot of important information. The images were successful as I chose to use them from the screen shots of my trailer, therefore the audience said they have an insight to what the film holds and contrast of the two pictures works well. They also give away some of the story line, which was a positive comment.
Initial ideas of layout for magazine
These images gave us the chance to experiment with different potential layouts and which are more appealing to our audience. Each draft conveys conventions but each has its own USP because they are each different. Although we were happy with the 3 layouts, we decided we weren’t going to use any of them as they did not fit with the pictures we decided to use for the poster.
These are our three layout designs which we showed to our target audience. They preferred layout number 3. When we asked them why, they said it was because the masthead stood out at the top of the magazine. They also liked the idea of having the two images and headings at the bottom half of the magazine. They found the headline effective in the middle of the page because they thought it would catch the eye of the audience.
Fonts: We showed our target audience a number of fonts when researching for our initial ideas. Out of these four fonts, font number one was favoured by the target audience. When asking them why they chose this font to be thier favourite, they said it was due to the font fitting in with our genre of film (action/thriller). They also had to vote for their preferred colour and had to choose from black, blue, red or grey. They chose red because they believe that red symbolises danger. In an action/thriller film, danger is well-known theme throughout this genre. They also believed it would stand out for the audience when shown on a poster or magazine.
The tagliens will appear down the sides as well as pugs being included, also skuylines and banners and convedntionas of any magzine, being the barcode and price.
